Harry Smith, Film-maker, folklore archivist, ethnomusicologist, hermetic painter, alchemist & Bishop of O.T.O. erasing some note in his calendar, Packing boxes of books and rare phonograph records in his room prior to departure from Hotel Breslin 28th St. & Broadway where he lived several years. Some boxes were stored in basement of Film-Maker's Archive, some at my apartment. January 12, 1985.

My aunt Edie Leegant (Uncle Max Frohman's sister), Santa Monica 1985, with her room mate Mollie, and granddaughter's photo in black sweater over her shoulder. "Max's sister Edie works, 17 years bookkeeper at Ginabelle's-" Kaddish. Now she's 82 years old & spry, walked me two miles to cousin Oscar's house after this photo was made.

Poet John Giorno & Bill's secretary Jim Grauerholz aghast at William Burroughs' whip-fast flexible blackjack draw from the hip. Bowery muggers and street junkies try to steal his wallet, watch out! Age 71 Burroughs returned from Lawrence, Kansas to his old "Bunker" loft (formerly a gym locker-room) with Place of Dead Roads mss. Scar on Giorno's belly (March 26, 1985) from cancer operation ten years earlier, he'd set up black cloth'd wall with stage-lights for his Buddhist rock & roll poetry rehearsals. A bunch of Queers me too.

Rabbi Schlomo Carlebach led widow actress- Judith Malina forward weeping goodbye, she's held by daughter Isha center holding hands with son Garrick Beck in beret, Judith's tall husband-to-be Hanon Reznikov gazing down behind them wearing yarmulke skull-cap; extreme right Anne Tardos with aleatory musician- Poet Jackson Machour. This anarchist- Pacifist artists' troupe anticipated in first Postwar U.S. Anti- Nuclear peace protest 1957, refusing with Catholic Workers group to enter A-Bomb shelter during New York state-wide war drill.
