This is a painting of the interior of a grand Gothic cathedral with soaring ribbed vaults and intricately carved stone columns, many of which are topped with statues. At the center of the painting is a raised pulpit at the top of a winding spiral staircase. The staircase and the platform itself are both intricately carved from a dark brown material that has golden highlights. Standing in front of the staircase is a woman wearing a blue dress with a pink shawl, her face covered by a white veil decorated with pink details. On the left is another woman holding the hands of two children, a third woman kneeling on the ground near them. More people are visible on the left, standing or sitting near rows of brown pews, illuminated by pale light that filters in through a large window on the left side. The overall color palette of the cathedral is mostly shades of gray and brown, with golden accents and pops of color from the clothes of worshippers.
