Ghostly impressions of people and abstract forms made up of collage-like fragments are printed in hazy gray on a tan-colored canvas in this vertical screenprint. One person stands in the middle of the picture with one elbow bent and the hand by the face. The person’s teeth are bared, and they appear to have shoulder-length hair and wear a hat. Another person plays a fiddle behind and to the right of the first. Other forms are reminiscent of houses in silhouette, a dog, and other abstract shapes line the left and bottom edges of the composition. Green-tinted areas overlap the gray in the bottom half. The artist signed the top right corner, “romare bearden.”
