A person rides a horse away from us on a narrow dirt path curving through a forest dominated by golden yellow trees in this vertical landscape painting. A boulder about twice the width of the path is backlit where it sits just left of the lower center of the canvas. The path begins near the bottom right corner of the painting and curves back and to the right. The horse is white, and the rider wears dark brown pants and a hat, and a lighter brown shirt. Trees towering over the rider to either side of the curve nearly reach the top of the composition. The horizon comes less than a third of the way up the painting. Pearly white sky fills in the gap between the trees around the rider, and ivory-colored clouds frame an icy blue sky above. The scene is painted with textured and blended strokes, which gives the painting a soft look even though some of the brushstrokes are visible. The artist signed and dated the lower center of the canvas, though it is partially cut off: “COROT 1872.”

This painting depicts a woman and a child standing in a wooded area. The woman holds a closed parasol in one hand and reaches down towards the child with the other. The woman has dark hair tied back and adored with flowers, and she is wearing a blue dress with black lace and a light pink flower or brooch on the neckline. The child has curly blonde hair tied back with a ribbon, and she is wearing a white dress with a red sash, striped stockings, and black shoes. The background includes tall trees framing a dirt path with a hint of blue sky in the background.

Moss-green land rising to a tree-topped bluff follows the curve of a sandy beach surrounding a pale blue cove in this horizontal landscape painting. The hill and olive-green trees take up most of the height of the left side of the composition. The beach curves from the lower right corner back and to our left, and curves around the cliff face of the bluff. Closest to us, the land is flecked with saffron gold, and two dark brown patches smear the sand. The beach or a sandbar creates a strip of pale brown across the horizon, which comes halfway up the canvas. Distant hills to our left are suggested by a battleship-gray slope. The slate-blue sky above is layered with swirls and bands of oyster-white and pewter-gray clouds. The artist signed the lower left, “COROT.”
