Painter, American, born the Netherlands, 1904 - 1997

This painting depicts swirling and overlapping shapes painted with thick, visible brushstrokes. The central shape is a combination of tan and pale pink tones with darker pink outlines. This abstract shape vaguely resembles a human body, with a round, lumpy torso, long legs, and a small head accented with magenta circles. On top of the head is another tan shape that looks like two arms clasped on top of the head, or perhaps a large, wide-brimmed hat. Surrounding this shape are thick streaks of beige, yellow, green, cream, blue, and dark pink.
