Madame G

c. 1900

American or British 19th or 20th Century

This painting is a portrait of a woman from the chest up. She is in a profile view, facing towards the right side. She has a very pale complexion, dark arched eyebrows, a pointed nose, high cheekbones, and red lips in a neutral expression. Her dark hair is styled in a voluminous bun on top of her head. She is wearing a high-collared garment with gray sleeves and a large black bow or ruffle at the neck over a section of white ruffles. The background is a dark reddish-brown tone on the right, with an area of cream and light gray on the left.
