This painting shows a standing man with light skin, long curly dark hair, a mustache, and goatee. He is wearing ornate silver armor and a white ruffled collar. The overlapping plates of the armor are accented in gold at the edges. His body is turned to the left, but he faces us. His left hand holds a decorated silver helmet with red plumes. To the left is another person, partially shown in shadow, who appears to be kneeling. This person has dark skin and short hair, wears a striped garment, and has a metallic chain around their neck. They are looking up at the armored man. The background features red drapery with a glimpse of an exterior scene on the bottom right, which reveals dark mountains and a pale-yellow sky.
